EXPLANATION:
These are the seven magic Dragon Balls, artifacts from the manga and anime "Dragon Ball", the mystical objects that gathered together allow to summon a holy dragon (Shenron) who can grant one wish.

As I said on the 4-Star Dragon Ball's deviation, here is the group shot of all the seven Dragon Balls. Originally, the first Dragon Balls to appear in the series are the ones that I present you here. They were an objects of the desire and help throughout the whole series and always plotted the history, making new adventures.

In order to summon the Eternal Dragon (Shenron) one must gather all the 7 balls in one place and call forth the dragon. He will grant then one wish that is within his and his creator's powers. After the wish is done, Dragon Balls turn into stones and are scattered through world. After a year they regain their powers and can be used once more.

Dragon Balls were created on Earth by Kami - alien, a Namekian who came to Earth after his home planet was endangered. Later in DBZ, due to Kami merging with Piccolo, the Dragon Balls were re-newed by Dende (also Namekian) who became a new guardian of Earth. He added 1-2 more wish(es) and allowed another wish to be saved for later.

In the Dragon Ball GT, due to the negative energy cumulated in the Balls (by too often wishes), DBs cracked and turned blue spawning 7 Evil Dragons (Shenrons). More information about this will come in the future when I decide to make the deviation upon this issue. At the end of Dragon Ball GT, DBs merged with Goku leaving the Earth without DBs (they later return after 100 years).

There are also other Dragon Balls sets. Namekian Dragon Balls are the true original ones and they come from Planet Namek, a home planet of the Earth's former god - Kami. Also, before Kami became a god of Earth, he created the first set of DBs on Earth and they were more powerful. More informations about these in the future deviations.

TRIVIA (ABOUT THE NAMES):
In the anime and manga characters referred to Dragon Balls' names by using Chinese words. Each name of Dragon Balls consists of Chinese words: appropriate numeral (indicating number of stars in the Ball), "xīng" (星; meaning star) and "qiú" (球; meaning ball). I will post in a later time a deviation or text file with all the names in.

DETAILS:
All the colors for this deviation were newly chosen (they are not borrowed from my other Sailor Moon items). I have used fairly similar colors to the ones presented in the anime (simply by using color probe and enlightening the color by few levels to make it more vivid). I'm so happy with the final effect and I think the Balls turned out so great!

As for the composition and overall look, I decided to mimic a group shot of Dragon Balls from the ending of Dragon Ball GT. I have added some more shades to the Dragon Balls to make them more mystical, also the positions of Dragon Balls in the set were changed to better follow my vision (I should also mention that stars' positions are different as well).

I honestly think that all changes I did to the screen shot were necessary as I didn't want any of the stars to be hidden by one of the balls. It looked awkward and I wanted every star to be clearly visible. Please, notice that some portions of the grass are new and didn't appear in the original screen shot I based this picture on.

Please, Dragon Ball fans, do not copy the idea of this composition and the shading of the Four-Star Dragon Ball. This is something that I figured out to make, so don't be a copy-cat! Find your style

As for the background, you can see it is a grass (I have mimicked the one that appears in the 3rd ending of the Dragon Ball GT). It consists of a green gradient with some black grain (which in fact is black colored white star set) and light and dark green mists. I'm really happy how it turned out, even if it is very simple. (Notice that in the bottom corner there is a "Dragon Balls" written in Katakana).

PERSONAL INFO:
I'm surprised that after 2 years(!!!) on this site I haven't posted anything related to Dragon Ball anime (my equally favorite series to Sailor Moon), of course beside my Dragon-Ball-style ID (I must be honest and say that I feel more comfortable in Akira Toriyama's style than Naoko Takeuchi's). Shame on me, I know...

I plan to make more items from Dragon Ball franchise. In a short time I will upload other versions of Dragon Balls: Namekian, Black-Star and Omega (Evil). The idea is to post one ball in a hand and a group shot of all seven. Generally, I want the presentation of the Dragon Balls to be similar to the one I do for Sailor Moon Items.

I should mention that I also have some ideas over items from other animes and mangas as well. To be honest, I'm considering making a mixed updates consisted of items from other creations, since in Sailor Moon "business" it starts to be too crowded and people are taking small things from each other , so I think it is a good idea for the future.

Ok, since the set of Dragon Balls is posted, I'm moving now back to Sailor Moon items. I have one item in my eye that I will probably do now. I won't tell what it is since I'm not 100% sure if it will be indeed it that will be posted next. No matter what it will be, I'm now focusing on Sailor Moon, since I had some problems with my health lately.
